We presented our research findings at the 64th Hydraulic Engineering Conference held in Toyama.

The 69th Hydraulic Engineering Conference was held at Toyama Prefectural Civic Center in Toyama Prefecture from December 2 to 4, 2024. Second-year master’s students Eiji Yamaguchi and Noriki Maeda, and first-year master’s student Hiroyuki Takano presented the research results at the conference.

At this conference, some students experienced presenting at an academic meeting for the first time, while others gave presentations in a large venue capable of accommodating over a thousand people, which they had never experienced before. Although everyone felt nervous, it became a valuable opportunity to recognize their own growth. During the Q&A sessions after the presentations, they were able to engage in discussions with several professors, which provided insights into both the presentation content and future research directions. Listening to cutting-edge research presented by other scholars made the conference highly fulfilling overall, and participating in it turned out to be a very rewarding experience.

During the three-day conference, we also had opportunities to enjoy meals and take walks around the Toyama Prefectural Civic Center, the conference venue. At the restaurant on the top floor of the Civic Center, we had meals while overlooking the city of Toyama. We were excited by the scenery that cannot be seen in Okinawa, including Toyama Castle and its beautiful autumn foliage, as well as the magnificent Tateyama Mountain Range in the distance, covered with snow.

We also enjoyed various local dishes, including “Toyama Black,” a specialty of the region.
